Based in Nagano and Kyoto, Japan.

He studied mechanical engineering and design at Kyoto Institute of Technology and worked as an engineer at Panasonic.
He later studied at Blake College and Holborn Studios in the UK, where he learned from Bill Ling and Andrew H Williams. He is now based in Japan and works as a freelancer.

He has traveled to more than 80 countries across Africa, Europe, and Asia, photographing natural landscapes, wildlife, and the daily lives of people in diverse regions around the world. Rather than approaching these places as a visitor, he prioritizes long-term stays and living locally in order to develop a deeper understanding of each culture and way of life. The light, atmosphere, and everyday moments he encounters are captured as naturally as possible, forming the core of his photographic expression.

Based in Nagano and Kyoto, he works on both personal and commercial projects. His personal work focuses on fine art and documentary photography centered on natural landscapes.

In his commercial practice, he undertakes a wide range of assignments related to Japanese culture, traditional crafts, food, and artisan practices, as well as architectural and portrait photography. He also works with private clients, primarily from overseas, offering proposal, wedding, and family photography.

In the field of video, he works across regional areas of Japan, producing documentaries on traditional craftsmanship, interviews with artisans, and corporate promotional films.

Across both photography and video, he provides a comprehensive, one-stop service that includes not only shooting but also planning, direction, and branding. Through careful consultation, he seeks to understand each project’s intent and context, aiming to create work that goes beyond simple documentation—capturing images with meaning.

Biography

In 2012, he traveled around the world and visited about 80 countries, shooting local landscapes and wild animals.
Moved the base to London, UK to learn more studio works in 2013.
After moved back to Nagano, Japan, he started taking pictures of local landscapes and local people’s life styles, and sharing them all over the world.
Established "Tolocca" in 2015 and started wedding and family photography business for locals.
Recently, he has started working abroad again and trying to work more locally and more internationally.
He will be more focused on YouTube and Podcast from 2020.

Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched “BESPOKE PHOTOGRAPHY JAPAN” and has focused on photographing proposals and family portraits for visitors from overseas, having worked with hundreds of couples. He puts particular emphasis on creating photos that capture each individual’s unique personality.

京都工芸繊維大学で機械工学とデザインを学び、電機メーカーPanasonicにてエンジニアとして勤務。その後、イギリスのBlake College、Holborn Studiosにて、Bill Ling、Andrew H Williamsらに学び、現在は帰国し、フリーランスとして活動している。

アフリカ、ヨーロッパ、アジアなど世界80カ国以上を巡り、各地の自然風景や野生動物、人々の暮らしをテーマに撮影を続けてきた。
単なる旅行者としてではなく、長期滞在し現地で生活することで、その土地の文化や営みを深く理解することを大切にしている。
そこで出会う光や空気感、日々の営みをできるだけ自然な形で写し取り、写真表現の軸としている。

国内では長野県と京都府を拠点に活動。
個人作品では、自然風景を主題としたファインアート写真やドキュメンタリー写真の制作を行っている。
商業撮影では、日本の文化、伝統工芸、食、職人の手仕事に関する分野を中心に、建築写真やポートレートなど幅広い撮影を手がける。
また、個人向けには主に海外からの顧客を対象としたプロポーズやウェディング、家族写真などの撮影を行っている。

映像分野では、日本各地を主なフィールドとし、伝統的な手仕事のドキュメンタリーや職人へのインタビュー、企業プロモーション映像の制作に取り組んでいる。

写真・映像を問わず、撮影にとどまらず企画・ディレクション・ブランディングまで一貫して手がけるワンストップの制作体制を強みとし、丁寧なヒアリングを通じて意図や背景を深く汲み取り、単なる記録にとどまらない、「意味のある撮影」を心がけている。

Biography

2012年にフリーランスとして独立。
約7ヶ月をかけ、ユーラシア大陸横断、アフリカ大陸縦断など世界中を巡り、約80カ国の地で風景や動物を撮影。
その後はロンドンに拠点を移し、ポートレートや、アーティスト写真撮影などの活動を行いつつ、欧州各地、南米、北米へと出向き、複数のドキュメンタリー写真プロジェクトに参加。

帰国後は御嶽山の噴火をきっかけに地元である長野県の木曽に拠点を移し、美しい自然風景や人々の生活を世界に向けて配信しつつ、
結婚式・家族写真・イベントの撮影など、社会とつながる活動を開始。

2015年に結婚式や家族写真向けの出張撮影サービス「Tolocca（トロッカ）」を夫婦で立ち上げ。
複数のテレビ出演を機に、地元だけでなく関東、関西方面にも多く出向き、結婚式、家族写真などの撮影を請け負うようになる。

2016年には、フリーランスで働く人を対象とした「Lancer of the year 2016 MVP」「パラレルワーク部門特別賞」「Lancer of the year 2016」の3賞を同時受賞。帰国以来の「田舎に暮らしつつ都会での仕事も請け負う」というスタイルを 「フリーランサーの新しい働き方」として高く評価される。テレビや新聞、雑誌などで大きく取り上げられ、これをきっかけに、学生・企業向けに写真教室やセミナーを開催、その様子がさらにメディアで取り上げられるなど、活動の幅を広げている。

2017年から、個人としての制作活動を再開。主に風景写真系のファインアート作品の制作に取り組む。

2019年には、地元長野県木曽郡大桑村にて初の風景写真個展 「BRIGHTNESS」を開催。

近年は、 業務や作品の制作と並行し、写真教室の講師、書籍への寄稿のほか、地方行政や中小企業のSNS対策コンサルティングなどの業務も行う。教育の分野にも強く関心を持ち、中学・高校・専門学校の外部講師として、特別授業や講演会の講師としても活動している。海外での撮影活動にも力を入れており、年間3ヶ月以上は海外に滞在し、制作活動に充てている。

2020年のコロナ禍を機に、撮影以外に企業のブランディングのコンサル業務を始め、ホームページ制作や商品開発のアドバイザーとして活動。また、YouTube・Podcastなどでの配信、オンライン写真教室なども始める。

コロナ終息後からここ数年は、「BESPOKE PHOTOGRAPHY JAPAN」を立ち上げ海外からの訪問者を対象にプロポーズや家族写真の撮影に注力しており、これまでに数百組の撮影を担当。より個人にフォーカスした写真撮影に力を入れている。
